What's the relation between Chaos Magick and Discordianism?

I see lots of common material between the Discordian religion and chaos magick. But what's the relationship between them?

Officially, there is no relationship.
Discordianism doesn't really have anything to do with practicing chaos magic (though some people use it as a magical meta-paradigm), and practicing chaos magic doesn't have to reflect any ideas or principles from Discordnianism.
However, there are just enough chaos magicians who like Discordianism that the association is often made.

I've been a chaos magician for most of my life, but I really don't like Discordianism and it doesn't effect me or my magical practice.

Agreed. I don't practice Discordianism either. My magic comes from Hermetics, the Quaballah and the teachings of Crowley, Hines, Carrol, Chapman and a few others.

Hello...my opinion is Discordianism, breaks those subtle ego barriers which make us pompous, so it's a great tool for the aspiring chaos magickian for practice, to stop them thinking/believing they are amazing at everything, and better than most!...Discordians worship Eris which you will know by now, Chaos and discord!...it's great fun, that's why the best chaos magi and all the creators have practiced Discordianism...Try it, it's fun, and that's what magick should become! x
