Protecting yourself from the unseen
Protecting yourself from the unseen
Don't know if this is the right forum for this. I'm reading a book called Psychic Self Defense by Dion Fortune. I'm half way through the book and the author still hasn't actually talked about any self defense methods but she mentioned a few times that when one takes no notice of the unseen, the unseen takes no notice of you but conversely, just reading about the occult makes one susceptible to the unseen. Is this true? I've never performed any occult rituals (besides the qabalistic cross and LBRP) but does just learning about all this stuff make me susceptible to these unseen forces? If so, I'd better learn to protect myself. Better set myself up with a psychic firewall. What protection methods would you all recommend for a beginner?

Not trying to be a smartass here, but maybe you should read the entire book? I think they first explain a bit about background and how things work so you'll understand why the methods are what they are when you get that far. Or skip to the end and read that and then finish reading middle part, if you cant wait ,)
If you mean the distinct feeling somebody is reading over your shoulder, I get that some times too..never paid much attention to it though.
..and I cant really recommend any protection methods since I never used any I'm aware of [blush] (unless you count directly attacking whatever annoys you and that probably isnt the right way)
Edited to add this, I now remember that many many years ago I used to 'build' big fortresses or similar (with various silly-looking guards and all) but they didnt seem to do much, probably cause they were way too big to keep track of and I didnt notice any difference before I tried this or after I stopped...shielding smaller spaces like just a room or area around you might be a better idea.

First you need to read the entire book.Dion Fortune was a great practitionair.Psychic Self Defense is one of my favorites. When you'll read the third chapter, first you'll understand how you can diagnose psychic attack. Then you'll read chapter 4 and you'll get all of your answers.
We could give you many protection shields, but i think you need to discover what fits you...after you read this wonderful book, you could also try Richard's Levit book for the same reason.

Most people fight for the possible.
I fight for the impossible!
I fight for the impossible!

I kinda lost interest because the author made it out like only people who are members of occult lodges have any chance of becoming adept enough to learn psychic self defense. I am not, and will probably never become a part of one of these occult lodges. Then again, she was of a previous century, things are a whole lot different nowadays with the internet. I'll start reading the rest of that book because it pisses me off knowing I've only read half a book.xaarea wrote:Not trying to be a smartass here, but maybe you should read the entire book? Yeah I stopped reading it during the part about diagnosis because it was boring me. In general though, what I read so far was pretty interesting. The story about the haunted orphanage (or birth ward or whatever it was) in which coal shoveled itself by the ton a significant distance from one area to the other was pretty fascinating. I'm a bit skeptical about that one but at the same time, I'm aware I know very little about this world. Some of the things she referred to where real fascinating too like the Goligher Circle. I looked that up and found this book:ΙΟΛΗ7 wrote:First you need to read the entire book.Dion Fortune was a great practitionair.Psychic Self Defense is one of my favorites. When you'll read the third chapter, first you'll understand how you can diagnose psychic attack. Then you'll read chapter 4 and you'll get all of your answers.
