Magick in the age of technology...

Post by sylas vael »

cyber-magick, hyper-sigils, & techno-mage's...
im not really sure where im going with this, so forgive me if i sound like an idiot.

i was just reading through some of the pages on "HyperRitual.com" & found alot of it very interesting. they even show a way to burn/destroy digitally created sigils. with technology growing at its current rate & the growing number of occult practitioners, it seems only logical to venture into the realm of cyber magick. does anyone here practice in this medium? id be interested to hear some ideas.

...im imagining a cube that generates a holographic sigil inside & then emits subtle vibrations corresponding to the construct of the sigil. (probably too much sharing.. lol)

It's not a bad idea, especially if it has some inherent advantage, but currently it seems like a lot of this type of thing is done just for the sake of it. Sure, you 'could' create, charge etc. a sigil digitally, but does it have any advantage over the old method? That's the question we need to ask, not can it be done, but how can we expand our knowledge and capabilities by doing it?

'The Path of Illumination'
he who gives himself to this path
is like a block of wood
that gives itself to the chisel-
cut by cut it is honed to perfection"

i don't really see it as having any particular advantage over traditional practices. but in an age where everything is done on a computer it seems the easiest way is to adapt. i mean, if we look toward the future we see technology as a necessity. the old paper & pen being replaced by touchpad & stylus. when this is the medium, cyber magick makes practical sense. not saying we should do away with the old ways, just that we may have to embrace the new at some point.
