Greetings,
i have a young grandaughter 9 y/o. She is tender pure sweet loving easily given to naive. But she also has the ability to be nearly paralysed by fear, and things that go bump in the night. I would like to help to he ritually cleanse her room and feel safe on her own strength. I would like to carve her her own wooden Athame; and i would like to use a wood which would for her more sacred and 'powerful' as it were, for her. Is there any websites or resources which could enlighten me as to the differing types of wood and the values and advantages? i see Yew, used alot, found oak and ash. Does anyone know more than me on the topic? (that shouldn't be hard. [wink] )
thanks alot.

Re: Sacred wood for granddaughters 1st Athame
Off the top of my head,I'm thinking Birch, but don't quote me on it yet, lol.
It's been ages since I looked at correspondances for trees/woods.I'll go see what I can dig up,that might be helpful for you.
This site is quite showy, but the info. is alright.I thought Birch because of it's association with birth, initiation, growth and stability, but no doubt there will be others that have appropriate qualities too.
More later.
