How do I make/find a wand?

Post by funnybunch50 »

Hello I have been studying occultism (especially goetia) for a while and decided I wanted to try a spell I found,
but the spell calls for a wand and I being a newbie have no idea on where to find one or preferably make one.
Does anybody know some tuts or books etc?
Thank-You in advance!!

If you want to make your own wand, then all you need are wood-carving tools, a book on basic wood carving, and the wood of your choice. Then you can just carve one.

There are also several wandmakers who will custom make a wand for you. A lot of them sell through Etsy. The price ranges are generally $15-$50, depending on the seller. Here are some wandmakers (from Etsy):

Here are some other wandmakers:

Some people use different types of wands (crystal wands, copper wands, etc.), but all of the links I provided are people who primarily use wood. Several provide the option of adding crystals to the wands, though. If you're making your own wand and want to use a crystal, then just purchase the crystal of your choice and find a suitable permanent glue to attach it with.

And if you just Google "Wand Making Tutorial", tutorials in youtube video and written format will come up showing you how to make wands.

Just go out in your backyard, find a stick, and dress it with oils. Seriously, you dont need anything fancy at all [rolleyes]

I have various branches waiting to be utilised.I have a rather lovely Ash that I think I will work on soon.

You can be as fancy or as simple as suits you.

I got with Fr.Nt on this, but it's not too difficult to gussy up a wand if you want to.It can be as easy as tying it with ribbons or working some wire around it and so on.Carving burning or painting also works well.
You can place symbols or sigils along it,or a stone or two or more, even. It's very much a personal choice, but it should feel like it is yours,it should feel good to hold and move with, empowering. So let your own instincts and natural preferences best guide you on that.

Some folk go by the wood type, picking one which suits the qualities they want to work with or project,so reading up on this might be useful too?

LOL, I can't believe I didn't think of just using a stick. I'm used to thinking of wands as the type used in Harry Potter, that's probably why [confused]

Heh,there's nothing wrong with buying one if you want to and you gave some helpful info on that. [thumbup]

I had a 'Potter wand' myself, for a while, till my wee grandson got hold of it,lol. It lit up at the end and was quite funky.

A friend got me it as a 'silly' gift, but you can utilise all kinds of items if you are of a mind to.
