I'm new to magick and am approaching it with an open-yet-skeptical mind.
I've been experimenting with a simplified version of the LBRP - Phil Hine's version.
It definitely does something. After doing it I feel a calm, clear, energized feeling.
I thought maybe it was the deep breathing that causes this, so I tried just focusing on the breathing side of it.
While deep breathing is mildly relaxing, it doesn't produce the same feeling as doing the whole ritual.
I guess I'm just amazed that visualizations combined with hand movements and breathing can produce such an noticeable effect.
To me it means there really is something to this whole magick bizzo. I'm really quite excited as to what things might be possible.
:::Questions:::
- Does it make any difference if I draw the pentagram upside down or not? Does it even matter what shape I draw at all?
- Do you have any tips to enhance the LBRP even furthur? I'm doing this one for reference: http://www.philhine.org.uk/writings/rit ... intro.html
Cheers.

Hi there Mindbender.
I know precisely what you mean. I was using Hine's pentagram ritual myself for a little while, and can relate to the energised feeling - at its best, I remember floating into the kitchen afterward thinking: "Dear Gods, I feel like I'm on freaking E."
Perhaps you could try out different shapes and let us know how it works out?
You should try out the traditional version of the ritual also, and compare your experiences of the two.
P.S. Welcome to the website!

I suppose that depends on who you ask. The Golden Dawn tradition (whence the ritual originally came) taught that the manner in which the pentagram is traced alters its meaning and power, as each point is attributed to one of the five Elements (Air, Earth, Fire, Water, with Spirit at the apex). The more Fuckit Chaos types might suppose you can draw a giant dick and achieve the same effect. I really can't say :p- Does it make any difference if I draw the pentagram upside down or not? Personally, I went from practising Hine's version to the traditional LBRP, which is very similar but involves the vibration of some Kabbalistic/Jewish words of power and calling an Archangel into each quarter once the pentagrams are traced. I can't say that it is better, but I prefer it as I like the sense of tradition that comes with practising a ritual that has been in use for over a century, I'm deeply infatuated with Angels, and it involves slightly more complex visualisations, which I suppose is good mental exercise.- Do you have any tips to enhance the LBRP even furthur?

You have to move your arms to really open up the chest area. This is the same principle as you will find in tai chi or qiqong.
You have siting meditation which is really good.
But ritual magic is more like moving meditation.

Re: There's definitely something to this Magick Business
There's a whole lot more to magic than just the LBRP.
I know, I know - I'm not a Ceremonial Magician but seriously, there's a lot more to magic than that.
If you want to get more out of any Ritual - study it. Learn it. Know it inside and out, backwards and forwards. Be able to do it in your sleep. This way when you do that actual Ritual you get more out of it.

I made a thread last year about the many different versions of the LBRP. I think I got some good answers. Here is the thread.Mindbender wrote: - Does it make any difference if I draw the pentagram upside down or not? Does it even matter what shape I draw at all?
