Can animals be affected with rituals?

I had a weird experince today after I did the LBRP. My cat - who's normally not doing anything around 23:00 - was drinking milk out of a bowl, and much more than usual. Not only that, right after summoning Castiel, another ritual, my cat was running back and forth like a lunatic. And that was weird because he's never that wild in the evening. Usually he's under the sofa because he's afraid of candles.
