Spell of Protection for "Exploring Other Realms"

Post by alejandrocerv »

Hey y'all,

I'm going to be having an experience with Hawaiian Baby Woodrose this upcoming weekend, and I'm wondering if any of you know a spell or ritual for helping me to stay in the right frame of mind before, during, and after. This will be my first experience with such an introspective plant, so I don't want to be unprepared to find something on the darker side, and I'll engage in that if it happens, but I don't want to be plunged into the depths with no way out and no protection.

For information about what kind of spell would fit with me, I mostly fit in with the Neopagan and Hermetic traditions, with some interest in the Left Hand Path and an affinity for Pre-Hispanic faiths. I'll be at a Druid's grove during, and have a home altar dedicated currently to my work in the Wheel of the Year and alchemy. In other words, pretty eclectic. If you could drop off some suggestions, that would make me super happy. :)

Peace and Blessings as the Summer wanes.

The best advice I can give for your first trip is to have a babysitter. Someone to watch over you while you trance and travel and bring you back if things appear to be going to far.

Thanks! I'll be with a druid who is a trip guide. :)

I don't think you necessarily need a spell for this. A simple mental preparation should be good enough.
Just be happy, think positive, trust your guide and see what happens.
Don't try and force any results, the first time in life is usually disappointing.

Well, I have tripped once before, whilst going through a breakup. It was not the ideal place to be in mentally, but I was with a great friend, and it was a very social hallucinogen, so we had a great time and I had some great realizations. But this will be a more spiritual experience, so I wondered if any of our world's traditions had a good way to prepare for that and be in a more suitable frame of mind.

Thanks, though! I appreciate all of the advice!

I find that spells are a total waste of time in this type of situation. Seriously.

If you are unable to protect your spiritual/etheric body without a spell then you have no business taking this trip yet. Self defense is important for a freaking reason!

Tantrum aside, do you have any psychic self defenses in place yet? It's not difficult to create a slight shift in the frequency of your shields and whatnot to protect both your physical body and your energetic body.

If you're asking about how to get yourself in the proper mindset - I would speak with the druid that's going to be watching you. If he's done this before you'll have the honor of first hand, in person advice.

Don't worry; I never expected to have a spell be my only line of defense -- my mind has its own power, I know. :P

I'm working on getting into a better etheric state before going, and am doing some alchemy the night before, which should be good for me.

And yes, I'll certainly have a great watchman. I just don't want him to feel solely responsible for me, as it's his birthday.

You can over think these things too. If you put too much energy into the anticipation it can build up and when the event comes to pass the energy is 'top heavy'... easy to fall one way or the other. Clearing yourself of the anticipation and maintaining a positive peaceful level is probably all you need. It sounds like all the our other bases are covered.
