Hello guys,
I have a problem that I'm hoping some of you more knowledgeable people could help me with:
I am interested in the occult, have been for a while, and I want to start. However, as a broke teenager, I can't afford to buy any of the books that people on reddit and on this forum suggest. I'm looking for some online resources, (free, but preferably not pirated), which will help me break into this incredibly fascinating subject. I'm looking into Chaos Magic as a system, and the tenets within it have the resonance of truth, but as I understand it, it's only a meta-system [smile]. Because of this, I'm looking for a system to apply the Chaos Magic principles within. I'd prefer a less flashy sort of magic - as in, not overly ceremonial, just processes which work. I've been looking into psionics, but I was wondering if anyone could help?
So, you could summarise my problems like this:
a) I can only use online, free resources
b) I am looking for a system to work through
and
c) I haven't the foggiest on how to start
Any suggestions?
P.S. I tried meditating, just breathing in and thinking so, breathing out and thinking hum, and focusing on my forehead (where the 3rd eye is), but I often get dizzy and feel nauseous shortly after beginning. Is there any way I can circumvent this?

If meditation makes you feel dizzy and nauseous you should shorten the length of your meditation sessions or try a different form of meditation. Sending attention to the breath often produces distracting sensations for me. You could try a mantra meditation that's not connected to the breath. You could also try insight meditation, vipassana. There are also moving meditations like qigong.

This is a totally free website that has wonderful instructions on mantra meditation. It is possible to develop siddhis (psychic powers) doing the practices taught on this site, but that's not the goal. The goal is enlightenment.

G'day Crazyfez,
Chaos Magic isn't necessarily a meta-paradigm - you can also use it to access individual paradigms, within which you use the concepts and teachings of that singular paradigm to get results. It isn't uncommon to work two completely separate paradigms at the same time, believing equally in concepts that are themselves mutually exclusive of one another.
If I was you, I'd start with paradigms which are easily accessible in the culture you reside within. Having access to both people and literature on a paradigm helps you to both understand, and develop a practice of, the paradigm as a whole. I've known people in extremely westernised countries trying in vain to get into African traditional religions such as Haitian Vodou, and then getting discouraged and ultimately giving up altogether because they can't find someone reliable to teach them.
There are many, many frauds out there who are just after your money. Some paradigms, such as Vodou, do cost money to learn because the transfer of money is intrinsic to the system itself. Don't get sucked in by the charlatans however, especially those offering to teach you how to become a god in five easy instalments.
Where to start? Well, id listen to what Frumens has already said, plus I'd check out other posts on the forum where people have asked very similar questions. In regards to Chaos Magic, maybe have a look at Liber MMM (which can be found here: http://www.chaosmatrix.org/library/chao ... ermmm.html )
Otherwise, ask loads of questions here on the forum. There's loads of people here just falling over themselves to help [grin]

Thanks for the help, Frumens and Clockwork_Ghost!
I sincerely appreciate it. I have been interested in the occult for a while now but I could never figure out how to actually get started.
But because of you two, I now have a solution to my problem! Many thanks, especially for the link to the Liber MMM.

There's a lot of free access info and sites in this folder. I'll be adding some more to it soon too. [thumbup]
