Hello everyone!
I was hoping that some of you that are more experienced/advanced in psychic development and occult studies could help me with a common sensation I am experiencing. Any advice, insight, or shared experiences would be much appreciated.
Okay so I've always had a fascination with occult and metaphysical subjects even from a young age I was drawn to the arcane. Its mostly been a fascination that I have not fully pursued or devoted myself to. When I was very young I was especially sensitive to the night and absolutely terrified because I knew things where out there that I could not see. I've had a few instances where I had a being of light stand by the foot of the bed which I knew was protecting me, another time I saw malevolent shapes in my living room, I was about 8. I stress that I saw these things BEFORE I started to explore spiritual topics so it was not part of a wild imagination due to reading. I haven't had an experience like that since. Which is fine, but my fascination for the subject matter has not left me.
Fast forward to today, I'm a young adult who has decided to study these topics more intensely, I've even begun to learn tarot, the science of astrology, and kabbalah. I've been reading much more on various subjects ranging from psychic development to occult science. Some of the experiences I am having right now is that while I am studying these subjects I start to feel more detached from my environment around me, like I'm kind of there but not there. At the time the sensation is very subtle BUT when I stop reading or thinking about the subject the feeling lingers for awhile and I feel like I'm not really there physically, I also start to feel sleepy. I don't feel like I'm concentrating very much on the subjects I'm reading or trying any exercises. I'm just reading! I've also started to not be around other people more socially as I feel frustrated, out of place, different, and sensitive to actions and emotions of others.
Any thoughts, comments, or guidance would be much appreciated.
Newbie Questions to some sensations
Re: Newbie Questions to some sensations
Judging from your story, it sounds like you need to take up some light meditation and get your thoughts under control. I feel like that feeling of being detached comes from an inability to process the things your brain is really trying to tell you (or something). I usually feel like that when I've had a rough day, but an hour of meditation and introspection and I'm once again where I need to be, and sometimes just a little bit of grounding.Arcanus wrote:Hello everyone!

When this happen, just take a quick second to remember who you are and where you are. Maybe stretch a little to keep from tiring, and think try to silence your thoughts about anything accept your book while you're reading. To solve this in the long run however, I think some mental control on your part could help, so if it does, please tell me how it works out.

Solid advice. Remember to maintain balance between spiritual pursuits and the rest of your life.Haelos wrote:

Some of this is very natural. You are reading about subjects that you just can't talk to with your buddies.Arcanus wrote: Some of the experiences I am having right now is that while I am studying these subjects I start to feel more detached from my environment around me, like I'm kind of there but not there.
Once you start practicing magic and your doing rituals you'll feel more isolated from the world as well.
Normally, when we find a new hobby we can share it with everybody, but the occult is best kept secret so it's a bit conflicting.
NOW. to battle this.
Meditate on the king of pentacles card. Really try and understand the hidden meaning and warnings in it.
It probably wouldn't hurt to do a daily meditation over one of the pentacle cards. Just take out all the pentacle cards and lay them face side down.
Pick a card, meditate on it today. Put the card back
Next day, pick a new card.
Do not be surprised if the same card keeps popping up more then once. That is usually the universe trying to tell you something.
It would probably be a good idea to do some grounding work.
You don't have to run out into the forest to do this. Just try and focus on your own body and where your energy is, can you feel your pulse in your head, but not in your legs? Try really hard to feel the pulse in your stomach, in your hips, in your leg, And ultimately in your feet. Try and put as much focus, imagination and concentration into your feet. And keep it there.
Also some aura work. try and draw your aura into yourself instead of having it spreading to thin.
This is something you can do even if you are a hardcore atheist- Imagining an aura around yourself and trying to fortify it, is a good mental exercise to be more certain in yourself and feel generally good.
Follow it up with a relaxing bath and you are ready to take on the world with fever distractions.
