Solomon, Brass Vessel

Post by AllenReus »

From what I have read about King Solomon, he was purported to have sealed the 72 Goetic spirits in a brass vessel. There is also the legends of jinns being sealed in brass lamps too if I'm correct. There is a couple questions i have about these matters based on these things. Are jinns and demons similar/the same at all? Also, why can jinns and demons be sealed away in brass vessels? What is so special about brass? Are demons and jinns unable to touch brass or something?
If magic can kill, if magic can open a portal to another reality when current science cant, magic may be the most powerful and dangerous thing out there.

a jinn is a spirit made of smokeless fire , they refused to bow to a clay creature ( humans ) and therefore where cursed/not liked by Allah. jinns aren't necessarily bad- just not the fondest of humans because of the whole bowing thing.

a demon is a angel that followed Lucifer to earth / angel that was a watcher or the child of a watcher ( nephilim )

i personally believe that the brass vessel is symbolic for taming the demons and binding them in a book/ his mind- but that is highly debated

brass is pretty normal metal that is easy to engrave- just iron and silver effect them as far as i know
hail chaos and have fun

Excuse me for asking but how do silver and iron affect demons? or possibly other things.

There's nothing I know of connecting specific metals to demons or djinn, but I only know the basics about each, so don't quote me on it.

In fact the only specific metal/spirit connection I can come up with beyond the correlations between different metals/planetary energies/planetary spirits is the Northern European tradition of iron being a protection against fairies or various other troublesome nature spirits.

Brass and copper are great material for leading energy. Most electric wires are made out of copper because it can withstand both low and high energy, they are sturdy but still bendable, don't rust to fast, Doesn't overheat to fast and other good quality.

Basically anything that is energy is going to be easy to attract to a brass vessel and it will be able to deal with it.

NOW, brass in it self is not what keeps the demons, the magic seals are what prevents them to get out. But it is a good medium as a start.

Why silver and gold are sometimes mentioned is because they are pure materials.

All sematic mythology has a common origin. It's not uncommon for stories to have similar elements. Both the story about the jinn and the story of solomon probably has some older story that they are both based on.

Brass is an alloy made from copper and zinc.

Think about how different vibrations affect each other and it might make sense why some tales make iron harmful to faries.

Old folk lore- cold iron is supposed to keep out anything from the otherworlds - silver is pure and "holy" and that supposedly scares em off- more folk tales than magic , but hey it works
