Oh no, not the truth!

Why would you ask for such a trivial thing though?!

I dunno, another language seems pretty valuable and practical compared to some of the stuff the Goetia claims to offer the magician.
"The path of the Sage is called
'The Path of Illumination'
he who gives himself to this path
is like a block of wood
that gives itself to the chisel-
cut by cut it is honed to perfection"

- DDJ, Verse 27

"It's still magic even if you know how it's done." - Terry Pratchett

Learning another language has given me a greater ability to use language in general to my advantage, effectively improving my native tongue as well.

It's one of the fastest growing markets in the world right now. If you speak Chinese and have a community collage degree you are worth more then those with an ivy league degree that only speak English.

Plus you would get access to many Buddhist scripture that isn't translated to English yet so you could gain knowledge nobody else have.

Yeah, especially if you learn a language pretty close to your own language. Learning English and German really did improve my Swedish as well. There was just so many hard-to-spell words, that suddenly made sense when I realized, that they where originally from the other languages.

And then there's me being silly, killing unborn children, predicting the future, gaining unfaithful partners and all sorts of other nonsense..

I don't know but if it were appropriate I wouldn't mind summoning some to have a nice conversation. I would like to know about them, their world, etc. and gain wisdom if they want to share any. But again it's just me [crazy] .

Same, and then I tried learning a bunch of other languages. It's been fun.

I don't know if language was really point of this comic though :p

I think the point was to demonstrate how people *really* get results in this world, especially when it comes to personal development.

Do the work people.

Exercises like meditation and "summoning demons" are great for the mind, like working out is for the body, but results come from action.

Non-action is action too.... but even then you'll eventually go the way of entropy, or drown when the tide finally comes in. Whichever comes first.

Most of the spirits are happy to talk about their history, their home, and the knowledge they possess. They don't get much decent interaction with humans these days. Some spirits are easier to work with than others, but if you grow enough, you can work with most one way or another.

A Grimoire Tradition practitioner talks about his discussion with Astaroth, regarding the fall of the angels, in this thread on WF. Personally, Astaroth's start of the conversation would have had me asking a few deeper questions, since the Djinn (which are what the Goetia spirits are) can be quite tricky about simultaneously offering what you want to hear, and the actual, deeper truth of a matter. There's an interesting Theugia Goetia thread on WF too, which talks a bit about the Aerial Spirits (the class of spirits listed in the TG). The experience in the second post is part of what inspired me to begin my own investigation into the realms of the Aerial Spirits, and while there's much to learn yet, I don't regret it.

Spirit Work is a long and deep running path, but if you do the work well, it can be very rewarding.

Yeah I know/agree, just didn't want to be that blunt about saying so.

What's there to be blunt? You get bigger biceps if you do upper arm exercises, just like you get a better functioning brain by exercising it. This is common sense.

My bad, I was not doing well with expression that day. 'Blunt' was definitely not the best word for what I meant, but I couldn't think of any better, and didn't think to disclaimer that the time. But yeah guess I was concerned about a full derailment of the thread but didn't feel the need to spell out the point as it was obvious already? Sorry.

Back to on topic: yay for languages? big yay for working hard and not treating the supernatural as a vending machine?

edit: also not doing well today it turns out. my bad.
