Help getting started

Basic info im currently working on being able to open my third eye and enter a gnosis/meditative state. After that my goal is to work my chakra and then with spirits and possibly sigils.

I've decided to use this comic as my foundation http://bluefluke.tumblr.com/ (I've read much much more than that concerning magic I just decided to use it as a focal point while I start)
If theres anything in that you disagree with or discredit let me know

Basically I think i've figured out this is mostly a thing you have to start on your own, but if someone had any tips as to how to go around opening the third eye or entering gnosis it would be appreciated i've been meditating for hours at times and still havnt felt much difference when I finished compared to how I started.

PS How I meditate- I sit in a pitch black room close my eyes and try to focus on only my forehead. I see faint shapes float around like slow comets (Always a deeper black or slightly white color) and bright lights in a way I can only described as seeing "out of the corner of my eye" they come and go outside my "sight" with no way of controlling them. No visions nothing like that and everytime I feel close to seeing something its like my eyes have to close (yet they're already close)
Its been a frustrating proccess and I feel im doing something wrong

First of all, on the matter of opening your third eye, stop reading new age crap.
Eat better, exercise, and stop drinking tap water to decalcify your pineal gland. That's the only "opening" your third eye will do.

Second off, read http://www.occultforum.org/forum/viewto ... 57&t=37025 and follow the steps to learn how to meditate properly. You aren't meditating to see pretty shapes, you're meditating to silence your thoughts. Focus on silencing them, not other menial crap like watching your imagination behind your eyes.

Third, read Initiation into Hermetics by Franz Bardon and spend the next rest of your life following everything in that book step for step. It won't take you your entire life to finish it, but you will be doing the things in it for your entire life.

Fourth, read anything and everything, ever. No information is bad information. If it's a subject you don't know and don't understand, do everything you can to learn everything you can about it. You have the collective knowledge of humanity at your fingertips. Use it.

Chakra meditations are not safe to do for a beginner, and I recommend against doing them, at least until you have a few years of practice. I say this to help save you from my mistakes, not to dissuade you from the practice.
You simply said "work with your chakra" so I assume you're making a Naruto reference, and relating Chakra to Chi. In which case, either take up some Taoist internal Alchemy or TaiChi, or follow my previous advice and wait, because unless you have a master to train you, it is unsafe on your body.

And finally, I recommend you switch a couple of those things around.
First, learn to meditate properly, while at the same time changing your lifestyle to be healthier to decalcify your pineal gland. It's not a one-or-the-other thing here. Eventually, you will learn to reach Gnosis. It takes years of practice for most people to achieve two seconds of gnosis. You will likely be doing other practices before you learn to enter a trance properly and efficiently.
Learn to use sigils. They seem right up your alley.
Working with spirits is very complicated, and decently advanced, and as always, I recommend against it until you have a few years of experience. Many other members around here will say the same.

Again, I'm not trying to tell you *not* to do these things, just know what you're doing before you actually do it.
A true magician learns everything about a subject before he puts into practice a single task.

I agree with this , but have a few thoughts to add , first off , go and open your root chakra then go up one by one . Second it is fine to meditate to see pretty shapes and such as long as you can calm your mind down first . I think it is fine to do chakra work as long as you do it properly . Full agree that you should cut out the new age stuff . Blue fluke is fine to read but he makes the prime chaos magic mistake , he tells you what to do but not why . If your going to go chaos than read liber null and condensed chaos . The iih is good for hermetics.

I hope I am not the only one to see a disparity between these two sentences. Other than that, good information.

The comic you linked isnt actually that bad. For someone not following any tradition and new to Occultism it at least looks like it introduces you to the concept of the basics. My only concern is by making it into a comic the practitioner will believe its a game and not serious business with serious consequences, and that it trivializes some important aspects imho.
