Faith vs Relgion

Post by magari »

Thoughts?

Personally I see religion as something that reinforces a faith, but unnecessary for faith itself.

A religion would be a system, a paradigm, a particular path. It delivers people to its results via faith, but eventually the road gives way to the weeds and we are left with nothing but our faith to keep us moving forward, often forging new paths.

Lots of religious people say the world has lost "faith". I'd argue they found better systems to support their faith. Faith was never in short supply, it was the systems that needed to catch up to what we were finding in the weeds.

I'd even argue there isn't a single religion/system/paradigm that we can follow into infinity.

However faith might take us there.

I know this has been discussed in length earlier on this forum. The search function gives some suggestions on threads to read.
But you can also check out the videos of mindandmagick, Taliesin McKnight and freakphil since they have all done videos about this subject.

If you have some specific video's I'd be interested...

Searching this community and others I realized people generally have a problem separating the two.

A well known member of this community stated that Religion is the organization of people of the same faith.

I'm arguing faith is a common experience propped up by religion. Two separate things entirely.

There is no "The Faith", only faith.

Faith is independent of religion, it exists before religion and continues on long after said religion has lost its usefulness to the tribe. To help guide others towards faith, and thereby success, religion evolves and we create things like science. It allowed individuals experimenting with human flight to have faith where religion failed them. I'd argue that one individual probably had faith that flight was possible, long before science created the dogma to propagate that faith in others to the benefit of the airline industry.

So I'm curious what the "community" thinks Desecrated. I've done my research. Thanks for the tip though. You should search the forums on this topic too. Interesting results.
