I had an incidental find maybe a week ago that's raised a lot of questions in my mind. Not being in a full-on magickal lodge I do feel like I'm throwing darts on intuition and I was curious if anyone else has any opinions in particular.
I spend maybe half a year to a year doing LBRP and LIRP daily. Those as their commonly taught, as most of us know, are built on the earth pentagrams. I was actually looking for the way of jettisoning things you don't want into their respective elemental pentagram or invoking the things you do want similarly when I ran into something that seemed off topic but it went like this:
http://hermetic.com/osiris/nbrp.htm
The only thing I find questionable is changing the direction of the circle - it seems like East around thru North is the standard and with banishing of air being invoking of water and invoking of air being banishing of water I don't see the clockwise or counter-clockwise relationship for either invoking of banishing; it seems to just depend on what element you're working with whether that rule applies (if anything I've seen invoking as toward that corner, banishing from that corner out - clockwise or counterclockwise tracing just seems incidental to that). I did notice Perregrin in By Names and Images mentioning the four colors, as does M Isidora Forrest in her Isis Magick book. This particular Frater Osiris seems to just suggest taking it a couple steps further by drawing the elemental pentagrams on their element and rearranging the godnames to better match the elements and their location on the ToL.
What I'm wondering about however, if there really is anything to what he said (and I'll admit I'm enjoying my own slight variant of what he suggested), is why the earth banishing is stuck with and what doing the earth pentagrams to the four directions actually mean?
My best guess, and again just throwing darts here, the elements within elements? Is it in the east banishing earth of air, in the south earth of fire, etc.. in an attempts to just have the earth element purified from something similar to the Robert Bruce suggestion that most of the time the problems you'll have are coming from the earth element? Is it just seen as excessive to banish fire and water because their seen as untarnished? If so what applications would you have for water and fire banishings?
Truthfully if someone just had a suggestion on which knowledge papers I'd want to look at that would be fine too.
Thanks!

You don't have to do a thing perfect, just relentlessly.
