I' ve seen this video where the narrotor explains that "Satanism is not classified as worshipping Satan..."
Then why if Satanism called Satanism and not something else? (Or the Church of Satan called the C.o.S., when it's not about worshipping Satan?)
Call me an amateur or someone taking something very litterally, but I think it doesn't seem right naming something after Satan, while not worshipping it.
Also, in the same video it is stated that Satanism is the best friend of the Christian Church, while it looks the greatest enemy of the church.

Re: Satanism vs worshipping Satan
Okay, short answer for anyone not wanting to watch a documentary on the topic. There are two forms of Satanism - theistic and atheistic. The theists, these being what people often associate as being'Satanists', the scary kids who want to worship someone other than the Christian God but still have all the associated dogma (JoS being a very good example of this), believe that Satan is a real being and then sort of drag several other ceremonial elements into their pantheon, including the Goetic spirits.
On the other side you have LaVey and the Church of Satan (CoS), who believe that Satan is an allegory for freedom of self expression, and the ability to be self governing outside of religious control. These atheistic Satanists dont acknowledge the existence of the theists, claiming that theistic Satanism is an oxymoron.
Theistic Satanism seems to attract white supremacist right wingers and those seriously dissafected by hard line Christian upbringings who want to sacrifice small animals, and atheistic Satanism seems to attract lawyers - seriously, I know so many lawyers who are CoS members its not funny. [grin]

You don't have to do a thing perfect, just relentlessly.
