Reading room update and November haul.

Post by Desecrated »

Got the rest of Plato today. I'm missing one book because it was out of order :/

I got some good recommendations on some serious books about astrology, and decided to add some not so serious books at the same time.

Finally got the Mary Packard - Tarot De Marseille:

And the slight upgrade was that I added a new wall to the reading room. I found a local furniture store that was selling bookcases for 25 dollars each, so I got 4 and added all my religious books to one section.

And then the occult books over here:

Sadly not yet.
I've read most of them (99%), but some of them are used for reference; like the older bibles. I've not read all of them cover to cover, but I've used them for comparative research looking at different translations.
I also have a handful of books that I've started reading, but gave up on. Because they were just too horrible, boring or stupid to continue. (unicorn magic or the encyclopedia of fruit-flies.)
And then new books shows up every now and again. I think I had 16 books come in to today so that will keep me busy all over the holidays.

That's a good bough-used ratio. I tend to buy books, read 20% of them, and continue to read e-books on my phone rather that the real thing. I shuld change that behaviour, it's not fair toward them [tongue]

I always wanted to see your library since you mentioned you got more than 4000 books about occult. Great stuff.

Can you say how long it took you to get all those? 2 years, 5 years, 10? Or it's hard to pin-point the exact moment you started researching about occult?

I have 6000 books in total. I'm estimating that 2000-2500 of them are of esoteric nature. This is just the reading room, it's were I store the most relevant information I need for my studies.
I read some books about the occult and new age back in the late 80's-early 90's but it wasn't until i got married 14 years ago that I finally had the time, money and place to start collecting more serious.
