Astral Projection: Premature Termination due to Fear

Post by cmjdon »

I read Robert Bruce's book, Astral Dynamics, and gave astral projection a shot a while ago. I've managed to get out twice. Each time, I immediately think to myself, "I'm not ready for this, I need to back," and therefore I go back. I wake up and I am amazed I got out successfully and I am also frightened.

Robert Bruce writes that what your mind conjures will come to you on the astral and that your emotional state dictates what happens to you. If you feel powerful and invincible, you will be. Knowing that I am not necessarily powerful and invincible has made me feel weak and concerned when I astral project and it is destroying my practice. I haven't had a powerful enough experience with gods in order to trust them to protect me or to believe their power is necessarily greater than my own. I feel like it's me against the unknown.

Those of you who have astral projected, how did you overcome your initial fears and concerns? I need a push in the right direction.

"Are you comfortable walking alone at night?
Are you comfortable in a dark, dark room?
When the creatures of the world unite for sleep,
Are you comfortable knowing you've drunk from the moon?"

From an "astral" poem. I forget who wrote it.
Free yourself from the seduction of words.

In my experience in the Astral, it's exactly what you describe. Your feelings and your emotions are the "vehicule" there, so it depends on how are you emotionaly. You have to empower yourself before going out, and it's not about believing in gods or spirits, it's about trusting your own abilities. Empower yourself, do some psychic training self defense and why not, psychic attack. When are you going to be ready to go outside again? When you realize you can defend yourself and you're not afraid of the astral creatures anymore. Then you'll be ready. It's not about time and hours of training, it's about confidency, self security.

Do some work with elemental energies so that you may domain and control them in Astral Travel. Also do some work with your personal energy, so you may control your own vehicule for shape shifting and things like that. I have "modified" myself under certain circumstances to move in certain places in te Astral. That's helpful and it's obtain through self knowledge and self control.

I hope I'd help a little.

Idansinají

PS: Corvidus, that's a nice poem, liked it a lot
