Banishing Ritual of the Hexagram, 4th Hexagram
Banishing Ritual of the Hexagram, 4th Hexagram
Various reputable sources disagree on whether the top or bottom triangle is drawn first. Does anyone have any idea how this inconsistency developed? I'm sure there will be no shortage of assured opinions on which one is correct.
Re: Banishing Ritual of the Hexagram, 4th Hexagram
I draw the bottom one (fire - pointing up) first and it works just fine for me
You could draw it both ways and seem which from works best for you
in 2 different rituals that is.

Motumbá Àse
If I remember well, the 4 hexagrams have 7 ways each of being traced. It depends on the planetary energy being worked. SO, in the "basic", general, normal banishing ritual, you should start from Saturn. As you do the pentagrams, you have 6 different ways to trace the pentagram (one each element and 2 for spirit) BUT when you do a simple, basic, general, normal pentagram banishing, you would use Earth.
That's the "logic" behind those rituals.

I hope it's helpful

Re: Banishing Ritual of the Hexagram, 4th Hexagram
I made this observation a couple weeks back, and hadn't read anything, or known anything about it thus far.
If you place a hexagram next to a TOL diagram, the hexagram being about one 3rd the size. You can see it is a perfect match for the kingdom of Yetzira. You can take the hexagram and place it right in the middle of the TOL thus indicating a point for each Sephira in Yetzira, with the Sun(tiphareth) being in the center. The correspondences are as follows:
Top point: The abyss/Daath, Top left: Mars/Geburah, Top right: Jupiter/Chesed, The center: Sun/Tiphareth, Bottom left: Mercury/Hod, Bottom right: Venus/Netzach, Bottom point: The Moon/Yesod. Doesn't this make sense?
Furthermore, if you take the Pentagram and perform the same operation these are the correspondences:
The same as above except:
Upright Pentagram:
Top point indicating the Abyss/Daath/Knowledge.
Inverted Pentagram:
Removal of Daath, bottom point indicating the moon/witchcraft/Black Magick, etc.
Order to draw the two equilateral triangles? Since they are Sephirotic, you could draw them in the order they are emanated to represent the anabolic process. Or you could draw them in reverse order to represent the katabolic process.
Maybe the potential for some powerful rituals here. And I just figured this out, maybe some of you already know of this.
Just my two cents, now i'm broke!
Cheers

I'm sure it's no coincidence, Spida, that your ToL correspondences align with your diagrams, WillowDarkWytch. Thank you both for your insights. And based on these observations, I guess another way to frame my question could be, for a general purpose (earth) banishing ritual does it makes more sense to first go Saturn to Mercury or Moon to Jupiter? I now simultaneously have a greater understanding and greater confusion. Which I wish I could say was unusual for me.
Re: Banishing Ritual of the Hexagram, 4th Hexagram
I know, the Supernal Triad is not included in the correspondences I gave. which leaves Saturn out of the loop. But since Saturn is a higher power, or more divine aspect. Maybe for that reason you should start there.

Re: Banishing Ritual of the Hexagram, 4th Hexagram
On the other hand, if you were to look at the action of drawing, as representative of your intention. Then maybe it would make more sense to go from the moon to jupiter. To convey through your action a sending back of forces from where they were emanated. A katabolic stripping down process. Maybe this would be more suitable for a banishing ritual.
Just a couple thoughts.
I know you are still left to make a decision, hopefully this enhances that ability.

Despite all this good information, I might not be able to overcome the feeling that the way I started doing it is the right way, maybe just because I did it for quite awhile that way before discovering there was a divergent opinion!

Comence by Saturn, because Saturn is the one representing the Supernal Triad. So, for "general" purposes, you begin in Saturn.a3m3th wrote:I'm sure it's no coincidence, Spida, that your ToL correspondences align with your diagrams, WillowDarkWytch.
