How to Know

Post by Wisdom »

Hi. I am new to this site and have a question. How do you find out what religion is correct or if atheists are correct. I want physical evidence. Thank you.

I don't think anyone is able to give you such evidence.

You're able to find it for yourself, but in a personal, subjective, non physical way, though.

If you're serious about this and not posting this only as a joke, I'll try to answer.

Beause no offence, this looks more like a joke, than a serious question.

If it's not a joke though, you should ask yourself why have you come up with these questions. Are their answers really what you want to find out? Or do these apparently silly questions represent some serious questions that you feel deep inside, but can't quite express on the outside?

Why do you need to know what religion is true, or if the atheists are true? What feels true for you, without considering either of them?

That was my answer.

Now, given the fact that you chose to ask this on a forum about magick, it tells me that this is the path you were lead to by your (let's call it) subconscious/unconscious mind.

You have 3 obstacles that you have to define first.

What exactly is Physical
What exactly is Evidence
And what exactly is I.

I did not intend for this to be a joke. I fear death and would like to find out what happens to me after a die, and I have an urge to do that soon in case I was to die an early death. I, as you can probably assume, am agnostic. However, I am not satisfied with my current spiritual life unless I know if there are spirits, an afterlife etc. I want to know if there is a way to perform a ritual, for example, that would have results to prove to me there is or is not a correct religion (summon a demon to see if it comes, etc.). I am leaning towards atheism, but I find it hard to believe that everyone that believes in magick, god and whatnot are wrong. I came to this forum to find the answers I am looking for.

For Desecrated-
"Physical" means not something I "see" in my mind...I could physically hold it or take a photo of it.
"Evidence" would show me that, beyond a reasonable doubt, there is a correct religion
"I" would be my thoughts and beliefs.

Hey Wisdom,
I was at a similar point once and I can only add a little advice to what has been said.
I´d like to encourage you to look through every religion/philosophy that interests you, learn about the beliefs, goals, etc. Keep everything that makes sense to you and discard everything which doesn´t. It may take some time but sooner or later you reach a critical mass of information which furthermore tells you that there has to be something more, which in turn fuels your motivation to dig deeper. In this way you kind of create your own religion, or put differently: you shape your beliefs.
Don´t expect this to happen fast or to reach the end quick, but rather treat this whole thing as a hobby and enjoy the ride.
