Help Request (Kabbalah, Magic and the Great Work of Self Transformation) and Intro

Post by Newbie__ »

Hello!

I'm new to OccultForum, and the Occult in general. I've seen many good things about Lyam Thomas Christopher's book, "Kabbalah, Magic and the Great Work of Self Transformation".
I want to get this right and I had just a few questions for the Neophyte grade (0-0).

Firstly, for the Middle Pillar in his exposition, he talks about a circle. As I'm new to the Occult, and thus Magic, I find myself confused. he does not explain what a circle in terms of magic, and I'm unsure about it's creation. It's mentioned once, however I've heard a magic circle be brought up before as a rather important aspect of magic as a whole. HE does mention not to use any other ritual from other books, but I'm curious. Should I learn about doing a Magic circle from other sources? Has anyone else found success not needing a magic circle for the Middle Pillar, or an other ritual?

Thanks for any advice. As for myself, I'm afraid there isn't much to say. I'm excited to delve into this world. [pray] [pray] [pray] [yay]

Not sure if there's anyone on the forum who specializes in Golden Dawn magick. Perhaps someone will pop in.

By Names and Images by Peregrin Wildoak is another GD book that I've heard good things about. I found this article on the Middle Pillar you could see if it matches up with what's written by Lyam.

Thanks! I'll just continue without a circle for now, nobody in GD says anything about it I suppose..
