Modern Magick - Tarot

Hiya,

Can anyone tell me if you have read the book Modern Magick by Donald Kraig...I need to know about the very beginning where it speaks about focusing on the tarot card for 3 minutes and make notes...

Okay, how do I do this...and what does it achieve...just that I found myself looking at a card the fool...seen the etheric light around it...thought about how the energy of the card needs the elements to jump from and express itself from one to the other situation to situation...

Can you give me some tips on how best to get more out of this just that I do not feel I am doing it right...

Thanks

Spirit Of Love

Don't make a big thing out of it, I mean that in the nicest possible way, if you are not getting anything, maybe you are trying too hard.

Just note down anything - even if it seems irrelevant, any thoughts, any distractions, they all help in the end.

ALSO, notice anything later, like insights, dreams, thoughts that are slightly disconnected with what you were thinking about - it all helps.

Wishing you enjoyment, try not to worry about getting it right, just enjoy the new scenery :-D

I haven't read that specific book, but I've run into quite a few books that say to do that sort of excersize. At first, yeah, it seems sort of dumb. But just write down, or record your thoughts and reactions to the card. It may be that nothing "jumps" out at you. Does the fool looked happy, sad, confused, etc? What do you think he's looking at? Why? Tell a story with the card. What may seem mundane to you at first may be helpful in the future. Plus, at least in my opinion, what YOU FEEL about the card has much more relevance than what a book says the card means. Does the card remind you of anyone you know? Why? I wouldn't try to do this excersize on the whole deck in one sitting, or even just one card a night. I would do maybe 3-5 cards a night... but that's just my opinion. Maybe then you can get into the swing of things. Don't worry if it's "right" or "wrong", don't worry at all. It's like brainstorming for an english paper. What you come up with on the first draft may have nothing to do with the finished product, but it sure as hell helped you get there!

Whitefyre has hit it on the nail, there i no right or wrong wasy to do this (various spirits are yelling this in my "éar" at this very moment) personally when i do tarot type readings etc i dont even use tarot cards i just use normal playing cards set out in no particular place or order i just listen for what each card means (for positional meaning as well as what the card means) so in effect i would end up with really screwed up messages if i tried to use a book for translations, im not saying books aren't worth using, but at best the are a guideline
