[ Katagami-sama ]

This work began here in Occult Forums in response to a thread (now lost to us) regarding all-purpose Servitors. What came of it, for me, was a body of work that I never expected (and by/for which I am deeply intrigued/grateful).
Katagami-sama (the name) is, in actuality, an acronym for a much longer name. The characters used to spell Katagami-sama's name mean "God of Forms." By "forms," the implication is of "martial arts forms." But as it stands, this name "God of Forms" is meant as a slight pun concerning his fox-spirit attributes of shape-shifting.
As a being, Katagami-sama is vast. In fact he (and I use that pronoun lightly) has multiple aspects, forms, or "souls." Well over 200, in fact, each representative of some part of him. These souls are like individual beings themselves and, together, they contribute to and complete the overall picture of Katagami-sama.
Perhaps, one of Katagami-sama's greatest asset is his growing understanding of hitsuzen. The Kodansha Japanese Desk Dictionary (Second Edition) defines hitsuzen as:
I will be using this thread to build upon Katagami-sama, proposing experiments, posting results, and offering contracts on his behalf. Please be advised: Everything surrounding Katagami-sama and his operations will be terribly auspicious. I may not speak in common Chaos Magic lingo (whatever that means), but you're absolutely free to think in such terminology. The reason for this is to build a reality around Katagami-sama that is consistent with his nature(s).A natural fore-ordained event. A state in which other outcomes are impossible. A result which can only be obtained by a single causality, and other causalities would necessarily create different results.
To form a contract with Katagami-sama, you have to first prepare a place of honor for him, or a small shrine. The center piece of which would be a vertical strip of paper, or a scroll, with his name written in Japanese (you can either print this scroll out or make your own copy by hand). There should also be a place for an offering dish, or bowl. Something that would be safe for holding anything from candles (for offering light) to food.
It can be as simple or as elaborate as you choose. You should then write or print out a contract, detailing what you would like from him and what you will be giving in return (the minimum requested is one offering once a week for a full lunar cycle, but you're free to give more if you wish). You should only sign and date it on the first day of a new lunar cycle - it is on this same day that you will make your first offering.
The contract, once it is signed and dated should be rolled up tightly and bound by thread or wax, and either attached to the bottom of the wallscroll (bearing his name), or kept in the offering dish for the duration of the lunar cycle.
Once this is set up, it is customary to clap twice, loudly, so as to draw his attention. You can then address him aloud or in thought, greeting him, introducing yourself, pointing out the place of honor or shrine, the offering, and the contract. You should also repeat the content of the contract directly to him. If you want to help keep his attention during this opening contact, burning a sweet-smelling incense or making your first offering one of fish or cooked rice is ideal (but not necessary).
Completion of the formalities (the conversation, or addressing) marks the beginning of the contract which will run for twenty-eight days. It is very important that you make weekly offerings (at the minimum). You can leave offerings in the dish for as long as you like, but twenty-four hours is the standard.
When the twenty-eight day has come, you can clap twice again and address Katagami-sama to state the end of the contract, and that you have fulfilled your part of the agreement by making the proper offerings. You should be aware that depending on you, the situation, and other factors, you may not see immediate results. Or you may get your results within the twenty-eight day period. Regardless of either, you must make the weekly offerings (it's just polite). You can then take down the shrine or place of honor.
You may either keep the wallscroll and contract, burn them, bury them, shred them and scatter them into the wind, or dispose of them in water.
