Good spells for beginners at magick?

Post by SterlingClark123 »

Hi there! I'm a beginner at magick, although I have been interested in it my whole life. I would like to know what spells would be good for me to start out with, and just the basics of it. I really want to get into this stuff so please help :)! Also I would like to know what the most powerful spell you can cast etc. just a general overview of it :)

That'a a very broad ranging question.Do you have any particular preferences spirituality wise?

Some magickal pathways are religion focused, yet others not at all,so just wondering.

Are there any areas or types of magicks that you know a little about already or are interested in?

I kind of just want like an overview. Like... are bindings physical or mental? How come almost all of the spells require candles? I really am into like summoning and like... nature kind of spells. When you cast a spell is there ever a visual effect? (silly question I know but like will the candle flames rise, sparkly stuff etc.?) What exactly is cermenoial magic stuff like that. And a good spell for me to start out with. Thank you :3

Try to steer clear of summoning as a beginner. You might summon something... not so nice... if you aren't careful.

My suggestion based of personal experience: Take some Tai Chi lessons. It's not witchcraft, but it is defiantly a good for your body, your mind, and your focus. I took two years of it, and it was well worth it.

And being able to raise your body temperature is always fun to impress your friends with. [crazy]

I happen to use the candle magic and i believe they help a lot with my rituals...of course there are many things required...for example certain altar oils, powders, ritual tools...now...visualization is an important step in your magic work!!!You are interested in summoning what and for what reason? What are you looking for? Are you seeking for some answers? Have you allready tried something? I want to understand what you are looking for.

I haven't tried anything yet. But, I did buy a beginners witchcraft kit today that has a sage smudging wand, pentacle, a little broom, and a quartz. It also came with a book. I kind of want to summon things...to talk to them? Silly I know. But also to like work my magick with them and have them help out and stuff. Are the summoning in a form where you can see or not? I'm interested in angles, earth spirits, djiin, etc. Also, do some spells come with like, visual effects? Like let's say I'm trying to do a......healing spell. Would like a white light appear or something? Just wondering. Also do love spells actually make the person "love" you or more like infatuation? Thank you :)

Is it really love if you spell cast on them? Is forced love true love?
SterlingClark123 wrote:...I'm interested in angles...
If this is a matter of the Angels in the bible, it will be hard for you to seek council with them, being devoted servants of the lord (and very busy bees), it is ultimately up to God if he allows it. As for Fallen Angels, there are many to talk to. Not saying you should summon them, but they are around.

***

Summoning is ultimately learning how to "open the door" to what lies beyond the veil.

This brings me to a story in the bible. Once again, I am only talking about angels of the bible. Numbers 22:21-41

21Balaam got up in the morning, saddled his donkey and went with the princes of Moab. 22But God was very angry when he went, and the angel of the LORD stood in the road to oppose him. Balaam was riding on his donkey, and his two servants were with him. 23When the donkey saw the angel of the LORD standing in the road with a drawn sword in his hand, she turned off the road into a field. Balaam beat her to get her back on the road.

24Then the angel of the LORD stood in a narrow path between two vineyards, with walls on both sides. 25When the donkey saw the angel of the LORD, she pressed close to the wall, crushing Balaam’s foot against it. So he beat her again.

26Then the angel of the LORD moved on ahead and stood in a narrow place where there was no room to turn, either to the right or to the left. 27When the donkey saw the angel of the LORD, she lay down under Balaam, and he was angry and beat her with his staff. 28Then the LORD opened the donkey’s mouth, and she said to Balaam, “What have I done to you to make you beat me these three times?”

29Balaam answered the donkey, “You have made a fool of me! If I had a sword in my hand, I would kill you right now.”

30The donkey said to Balaam, “Am I not your own donkey, which you have always ridden, to this day? Have I been in the habit of doing this to you?”

“No,” he said.

31Then the LORD opened Balaam’s eyes, and he saw the angel of the LORD standing in the road with his sword drawn. So he bowed low and fell facedown.

32The angel of the LORD asked him, “Why have you beaten your donkey these three times? I have come here to oppose you because your path is a reckless one before me.c 33The donkey saw me and turned away from me these three times. If she had not turned away, I would certainly have killed you by now, but I would have spared her.”

34Balaam said to the angel of the LORD, “I have sinned. I did not realize you were standing in the road to oppose me. Now if you are displeased, I will go back.”

35The angel of the LORD said to Balaam, “Go with the men, but speak only what I tell you.” So Balaam went with the princes of Balak.

36When Balak heard that Balaam was coming, he went out to meet him at the Moabite town on the Arnon border, at the edge of his territory. 37Balak said to Balaam, “Did I not send you an urgent summons? Why didn’t you come to me? Am I really not able to reward you?”

38“Well, I have come to you now,” Balaam replied. “But can I say just anything? I must speak only what God puts in my mouth.”

39Then Balaam went with Balak to Kiriath Huzoth. 40Balak sacrificed cattle and sheep, and gave some to Balaam and the princes who were with him. 41The next morning Balak took Balaam up to Bamoth Baal, and from there he saw part of the people.

I believe that some people can see them, I believe some people can hear them. I believe some people can hear them. Some people can do a combination of each. It might all depend on the person, and how they "open" the veil and communicate with the other side. Obviously, with this story, god opened Balaam's eyes to what lied beyond the veil and he saw the angel of the lord.

There have also been many stories about animals seeing what lies beyond the veil, not just in the bible, but in other stories.

Vampires are kind of sorta real. There are many people who suck the blood of others. I've made quite a few vamperic friends over the years. People believe there is a lot of power in the blood. The blood is what keeps you alive and beating. Also full of potassium and usually iron.

As for burning in the sunlight, haven't met one yet.

Soo...back to one of my main questions... just wondering, when you cast a spell, is there ever a visual effect like sparkles, candle flames rising etc.?

In general no.Though pending the field and level of the magic and exactly what it involves there may well be clearly visible reactions provided you're in position to actually look upon the results of your own work.Regardless you're not going to be seeing anything like sparkles blasting out of mysterious locations for no apparent reason.Regarding flames however often times you can and will notice a disturbance or unusual movement within the fire. That being said more often than not you'll be feeling the reaction not seeing it.I'm not saying it won't have an effect on a physical level I'm just saying don't expect a laser show to take place out of nowhere in the middle of your room.Unless of course you have working spell for that which I'm more inclined to believe you wouldn't but I've been proven wrong on crazier things.

That being said there are certain summons that would certainly qualify as having an immediate visual reaction but I would advise greater study into that field prior to any manner of pursuing it.It may also be better to start off summoning weaker beings with little payoff and less remarkable effects before you work your way up to summoning anything big or flashy.

Also please don't mind my sense of humor.

I agree, thanks for saying so.Members here are inclined to be helpful and do they possess a wide range of knowledge and experience.
Ok,that ends the slushy moment for now, lol.

You've framed your questions well, that helps members with answering too. [grin]

Bindings can vary in technique and format, across the paradigms.

Below is an example of something I sometimes use.I t has the physicality of a sympathetic rite but I also use my will and mind, the magick falls somewhere in between these processes.I hope I expalined this reasonably. It's not comprehensive but feel free to ask me more about it,if you wish.....the most powerful magicks ,in my opinion, mix up the physical, mental and spritual together, but IMMVand that''s ok too.

This one is from my Northern 'Home ground' it's an easy enough one to pull off,but its not for major or important situations.

I wil engage in a sympathetic ritual.I will bind or tie a poppet or other fetish object which represents the person to be bound,I use herbs and incenses in my working, passing the poppet through various smokes as I incant. This poppet has personal 'findings' stolen [the thievery bit is important for me] from the object of my affection [the bindee] contained wthin it/wrapped around it or otherwise impregnated through it.
I use Rue and Stinging nettles for this kind of thing, mostly.I dry my own herbs. The cords used for the actual tying up of the poppet should be knotted,to tie your intent in to the charm. [I like nine knots, nine days to tighten lol,if kinda quick results are needed, you can wet the poppet thoroughly after charming it,to quicken the process more, keep rewetting after allowing some drying first to tighten.

The poppet should be bound three times over anyway,in the nine days,so I use three cords for this working, three knots on each.
I use Black and red cords, but colours can vary a lot, depending on your own preferred associations and correspondances etc.

I am casting this with a focused intent in my mind, this is the mental part, verbal and visual intonation and reinforcement,I can 'see' this person behaving calmly and well in the end and I envisage their frustration at their own inability to successfully cause mischief,I 'see' things backfiring on them,as they go along and I also allow them the space to come to a realisation that mibbe they should stop being so dickish and settle down.I work in a light trance so I can zero in' on the person's energies, mentally and magicaklly speaking.

The finished article is stored in my 'box of tricks': a large wooden box I have, lined with red velvet.I place certain symbols on a cloth which it gets wrapped in, I use Rune chrams in my working. You may use whichever symbolism is appropriate for you.The poppet is 'contained' in this box, till I reinforce the cords and reposes there the rest of the time until the lesson is learned.

I reinforce the mental images often too.

This is for those I don't dislike much, but who would benefit from a bit of 'tobering up.'
I have other methods and means I utilise for bigger matters, but that is more detailed and for another discussion later, perhaps.

There is more to this subject,a lot more we can discuss.

Poppets reflect the power of the ancient magicians...the use of dolls in sympathetic magic goes back several millennia.Back in the days of ancient Egypt, the enemies of Ramses the third used wax images of the Pharoah, to bring about his death.Just one thing...i don't believe that i read somewhere about the day and the hour of the ritual. That's a very important tip for the absolute success of our work.
If someone knows how to use the poppet magic,he can have a great sheild around him or hurt dangerously an enemy.

Doing a house cleansing is a good first run. Not just smudging but wiping walls with a wash, moving things around to change the energy of the room, using music to charge the room in a positive way. Just standing the space and claiming it as yours. I love using iron nails in windows and such.

Also, I love bottle spells. I like researching herbs, colors and items to put in them. Simply stating why you are using an item as it goes in the bottle saves you from learning a chant. Once it's filled just seal it up with wax and your good to go.
